The Game

Readable but deep. That's the whole game.

A skilled player is always reading two things at once — the chain (what did I just cast, and what should follow it?) and the board (what are these monsters weak to?). Line those up and combat becomes a controlled demolition.

The Strategic Core

Every family is primarily weak (+30% damage) and secondarily weak (+15%) to two other elements — a single 25×25 matrix that drives spell combos, monster vulnerability, and gear bonuses alike.

+30% Primary chain +15% Secondary chain +80% With a full set

The Chain Combo is a reward of pure skill: cast a spell, then immediately follow up with one from the family it's weak to, and the follow-up hits the whole screen harder. It costs nothing but timing and knowledge.

Intrinsic weakness is the elemental's burden: elemental creatures always take extra damage from their weakness elements. Chain the very elements a monster is already weak to, and the multipliers compound.

Worked example

An ice elemental is primarily weak to fire. Open with a Cryomancy spell, then chain into Pyromancy — the fire follow-up earns the +30% chain bonus against everything on screen, and the ice elemental additionally suffers its +30% intrinsic fire weakness.

Two multipliers, one target, one very short fight. As the saying goes in Overcastia: it's a bad day to be an elemental against a player who reads the board.

🌀

Every family is a toolkit

Damage is only half of what a school does. Each carries two signature debuffs that define its personality — some freeze and lock down, some spread and infect, some turn enemies on each other or mark them for delayed execution.

The Malice stat scales debuff duration and damage, so entire characters can be built around status rather than raw damage — chaining crowd control to render whole waves harmless.

📖

Spells & fluid loadouts

Each family delivers a full kit of 25 spells: a basic attack, a bar of main spells, screen-shaking ultimates, supportive boons, and a family heal — from rapid channels to full-canvas cataclysms.

Unlocks are reversible. Unlearn any spell and its shard cost returns to your pool, ready to fund a different school entirely. Your caster is never a finished, frozen thing.

The Living Economy

No gold, no generic loot tables, no crafting mats — just 25 shards, one per family, engineered to never lose their value.

Where shards come from

  • Elemental monsters drop their own family's shard
  • Bosses drop a random handful of shards on death
  • Unwanted gear is broken down into shards

What shards are spent on

  • Unlocking spells — fully refundable
  • Permanently boosting world regions
  • Enhancing and upgrading gear
A farming session, illustrated

You want a stronger frost build. You dive a boosted ice region, shredding ice elementals with their fire weakness. They rain ice shards. You spend some to unlock two new Cryomancy ultimates, some to boost the region another level, and some to enhance your frost gear — and any duplicate gear you don't want, you extract back into shards. Nothing dropped, nothing wasted, and the region is fiercer than when you arrived.

Collect, Don't Discard

Twelve equipment slots — Chest, Helm, Gloves, Boots, Legs, Cloak, Weapon, Belt, Ring, Amulet, Codex, and Runestone — for each of the 25 families.

Gear grants hero stat points rather than flat bonuses, flowing through the same formulas as leveling — so a set's power scales with your character instead of going stale. Collect one family's pieces to unlock escalating set bonuses, or split 6/6, 9/3, or 3/3/3/3 across families for a hybrid.

3pc Weakness → 40% 6pc → 50% 9pc → 60% 12pc → 80%

① Combine

Fuse two identical pieces into a guaranteed +1 enhanced version — deterministic, never a gamble.

② Enhance

Invest shards directly into a piece to strengthen it. Fully deterministic progress.

③ Extract

Break any piece you don't need back down into shards. Every drop is an upgrade, a future upgrade, or fuel.

Growth

Both leveling and gear pour into one shared pool, so your caster feels exactly the way you want.

Stat gains taper as you climb — full value through level 49, then 75%, 50%, and 25% in the later bands. Late-game investment stays meaningful without letting numbers spiral into meaninglessness.

Build Archetypes

The same character can be a Purist on Monday and a Debuff Lord by Friday — that fluidity is the point.

The Purist

Full 12-piece set · one element

All-in on a single family for its top-tier set bonus and maximum weakness damage. Disciplined, focused, devastating against everything that element counters.

The Chain-Master

2–3 families · Haste / Power

Splits gear to keep several elements online and lives on the weakness matrix, weaving primary and secondary chains for relentless amplified bursts.

The Debuff Lord

Malice-stacked across families

Ignores raw damage for control. Freezes, poisons, silences, and mind-breaks entire waves into helplessness, then lets stacked status do the killing.

The Summoner

Control stat · summon families

Fields constructs, phantoms, and eldritch minions, scaling their duration and health while directing the battlefield from the back line.

The Glass Cannon

Power + Precision · low defense

Maximizes damage and crit for explosive screen-clears, trading survivability for the thrill of ending fights before they begin.

The Bulwark

Vitality + Resistance · sustain

An immovable caster built to outlast anything, leaning on defensive stats, healing spells, and mitigation boons to grind down even boosted endgame regions.

The Spellbook

Search by name or debuff, or filter by discipline. Each card shows the school, the weaknesses it exploits, and its two signature debuffs.

No schools match that search. Try another element or debuff.
